From each according to what we can contribute; to each according to the value we all agree on.
Members make their contributions – of time and effort, of money, by bringing in friends or acquaintances with particular knowledge in the area, or in other ways – and as the project progresses, their input is tracked using TIE Development's online software.
When income is produced by a project, the input of the group’s members is assessed and the members vote on it. An example: If the amount earned by a project were US$1,000, for example, the 10 members of this hypothetical group might feel that each of the members contributed equally.
· In that case, each member would earn US$100
However, if the members in voting determined that members 1, 3, and 8 contributed 60% of the effort, while member 9 contributed only 1%, the earnings would be adjusted accordingly:
· members 1, 3, and 8 would each get US$200
· member 9 would get US$10
· the other members (2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10) would each get US$65
Since the members all voted, and the process is a transparent one, all Interest Group members should feel they received their fair share of the income. If for some reason there is disagreement, TIE’s ombudsman process can be used to determine a fair result.
